don't
let my lightheartedness
fool you
see
down deep
inside
stillness
works
magic
builds songs
tumble
stumble
recover some
stones
hold the hands
carry the load
call the shots
fire
no regrets
only exhausted howling
self
restraint
smiles
all day cries
all night
owls offer patient timeless regard
unhurried
watchful
gazing dispassionate
silence
a great and dangerous deception
hovers
poised
falling into a darkness of its own
making
this next breath the next
right
thing
I like the dark night raptors. The hunger of them as they wait silently for the mouse or rabbit to move. No Cartoon in this, owls are smart but not always wise and never light hearted.
ReplyDeleteWM-- yes, they are the sentinels along the watchtower, aren't they? thanks for the comment and your insight.
ReplyDelete"down deep inside stillness works magic" speaks of the benefits of keeping your powder dry.
ReplyDeleteLovely lines that hide a veiled threat - like an owl indeed.
silence
ReplyDeletea great and dangerous deception
Ahhh there's a line I like.....Tweaty
pisces-- thanks for noticing the layers in there... keeping the powder dry is still a good strategy!!
ReplyDeletetweaty-- that line does have a nice quirky feeling to it, doesn't it? thanks for the visit and the comment. nice to see you here.
I love this. I love how quick the read is and almost a holding of ones breath/a pause to think ; at the end.
ReplyDeleteI like the way it captures the dark night of the soul stuff. And I do love the shape of your verse too.
ReplyDeleteSarahA--thanks! it is a quick read, that's kinda deliberate, especially with the words that can be a beginning and an ending at the same time; glad this worked for you.
ReplyDeleteMadame-- what a nice insight about the dark night of the soul.... the shape was more happy coincidence but i'm glad it worked! thanks for the visit and the comment
